REVIEW: Seduction and Snacks

Seducation and SnacksClaire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he’s asleep) toddler a better life.

When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time.

With Carter’s undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire’s panic that her stretch marks and slim to none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.

Warning: contains explicit sex, profanity and enough sarcasm to choke a horse.

Thoughts: Funny but oh so annoying! There is a fine line between the two and it was crossed several times. Plus, a 4 year-old that swears like a sailor is not cute at all. I cringed every time that kid swore. And I found myself increasingly frustrated with Claire for not doing anything about it. I did like how she didn’t want children and then was the first of her friends to conceive, but after so many declarations on how you hate kids but not your own, it gets kind of tiring.

Sometimes I had to remind myself that these characters were “grown adults” the language, their actions screamed little children too me, I just couldn’t get over that. Set an example people!

The hilarious moments could not offset my frustration with everything else going on with this book. Even though I had moments where I died laughing or was like “did you really just say that?!” It took a lot out of me to finish, it just seemed to go on and on and on. It was very trying and frustrating. I hate bad parenting book form or not.

I will not be reading any more of this series. I just can’t put myself through that torture again. I’m trying to decide if I would recommend this book and honestly, I guess if you like funny books and the substance of the book is just centered around how hilarious it is then yes I recommend it. But, if you’re looking for funny and a bit meaty and mature then this isn’t the book for you.

Happy Weekend Reading!
