Top 10 Books I Read in One Sitting

Reading Time: 4 minutes When compiling this list I was actually a little surprised how many books I read in one sitting that weren’t romance novels, though I made sure to include some romance novels as well. Some of these were also assigned readings for school, nevertheless, I read them all in one sitting, start to finish.

Spring Cleaning MBJ’s TBR

Reading Time: 6 minutes For this week’s TTT, I (Carmen) am taking the idea of spring cleaning very seriously. But due to my somewhat ridiculous attachment to the books on my TBR and the unfortunate habit of constantly adding to it, the list never really decreases in size. I’m sure that in the bookish community, I’m not alone in my situation. This summer, though, I am going to do something about it.

Top 5 Books I Read in One Sitting

Reading Time: 3 minutes Edited September 2021 March 21: Read In One Sitting Theme I thought this post would be the most challenging, but as it turns out, the books you lose time reading are the ones that are easily recalled. Confessions of  a Reformed Tom Cat by Daisy Prescott I finished this book a few days ago. I’m not entirely sure what about it that made me devour it so quickly. The characters were funny, relatable and witty. There was family, love, death, acceptance all rolled into one. It was a surprisingly light read. Paris Lights by C.J. Duggan   Claire thinks she is being proposed to when she finally visits the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Paris, for Claire is a long-awaited dream; her love of the city knows no bounds. Instead, she gets dumped. Claire doesn’t turn and run; she sticks it out in Paris, determined to find her love for the city. A picture of Paris was painted, and I can’t wait to visit and see the places mentioned in the book, it was magical. Update: I went to Paris later that year. I probably should have re-read the book before going because it was not magical for me. The Fault in Our

Top 10 Book and Blogging Confessions

Reading Time: 3 minutes July 8: Top Ten Book/Blogging Confessions  1. Biggest Library Snob I don’t know if its snobbish but when I got to library and I check out their adult and NA section and I look up authors and if they don’t have most of an authors famous works or some obscure novel that I feel they should have on their shelves because I can GUARANTEE people will want to read it, I feel as if it’s my sole duty to suggest books for them to get. I’ve done this at three libraries and one of them was a small town library and so grateful when I beefed up their shelves. 2. I dog ear library books and if I’ve checked out a dog-eared book I smooth them all out and ear them at the parts that I like, sometimes its the same as the one before me and that makes me smile. 3. I never know what to say my favorite book is Harry Potter is so cliché right? right?! And I’m older now and you’d be surprised how many book snobs are out there, like  Fyodor Dostoyevsky as a favorite author, I call BULLSHIT. But seriously, I should have 5 that I can call upon when

Canada edition. 1. The Crucible Now that I look back at it, I don’t remember/think I realized it has anything to do with the Salem Witch Trials. This is on my list of books to reread. 2. To Kill a Mockingbird I’m pretty sure this is one classic everyone has read. Boo Radley, Scout, and Atticus. I’m also pretty sure more than one person has named their dog after these three.   3. Top Ten Books On My Summer 2014 TBR List

Reading Time: 2 minutes June 17: Ten Books On My Summer TBR List  Moving is hard on its own but moving countries is slightly worse, States to Canada. I’m finding my groove during this transition so bear with me. I conveniently had a Summer TBR list already, thank you Goodreads! So, without further ado, Summer TBR. I said this before in a previous, this book seems to pop-up whenever I’m on the hunt for new books to read. Since it’s all in my face, I figure I’d give it a try this summer. I don’t remember Lane Parker, but I do remember the other two books in the series. I enjoyed them both and I love continuing/finishing a series. Who doesn’t? 2020 Update: I have not read this book. I’ll need to add it the My Book Jar Challenge The name of this book is what caught my eye. A love story with the cat as a matchmaker? Sounds like a fun summer read to me.  So glad I’m doing this! I totally forgot about this book for a minute. It was a book club read but I couldn’t get the book so now it’s on my summer TBR list and I need to go

There have been so many books that I cam across that I had to message me best friend and be like,  “this is us!” So here are 10 books that remind me of my best friend and our friendship.   1. Gemma Doyle Series by Libba Bray I pestered my friend to read this series. It’s a beautiful story about unlikely friendship that sparks more from desire of power and slowly morphs into something more. 2. Searching Series by Jennifer Probst Isn’t it great to have girlfriends that hit you up-side the head with common sense when needed? Or try their hand at matchmaking to the guy you’re secretly crushing on when you told them not to but they don’t listen? Or when they’re in your corner rooting for you to find your HEA because they love you?

Top 10 Books I Almost Put Down But Did Not

Enjoy and please feel free to join me, I’d love to hear your own lists on whatever topics are featured. May 13: Ten Books I Almost Put Down But Didn’t  1. All the Pretty Lies by M. Leighton I thought about it Sloane didn’t seem mentally mature enough for me. I didn’t put it down though, I’m not sure if I regret it or not. 2. Perfection by R.L. Mathewson Ah man, I actually did put this book down, only to pick it back up again. It was ridiculous and once I accepted that I loved it.  3. Simply Irresistible by Rachel Gibson This book took me back to 1998 literally. I wanted to put it down for that purpose alone. I’m glad I didn’t. 4. The Redhead Revealed by Alice Clayton This book gave me a cougar-esque vibe (not that I know ANYTHING about cougars). Top 10 Book Covers I’d Frame As Pieces of Art

Reading Time: < 1 minute March 6: Top Ten Book Covers I’d Frame As Pieces of Art  Fall/Autumn is by far my favorite season. I love when the leaves are yellow and orange and red. This cover is ideal, plus there’s something about her walking away or maybe towards something that I find intriguing. Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson has always had a pull on me, it’s the lone eye. I really just want Veronica Roth’s Insurgent tree. Holly Black Tithe the butterfly, the center yellow is the main focus and I love it. Not only is Melissa Marr’s Wicked Lovely a great series but all of the covers are ethereal. That Boy by Jillian Dodd makes for great poster hanging material. Love You Forever by Robert Munsch is going in my bathroom. E.B. White’s Trumpet of the Swan was my first ever chapter book, so of course I’ll be framing that. These would go in the dining/living room(s) I don’t I like the furniture themed style of these pics I’d have these three framed together. I like that there are figures partially hidden behind branches. Plus these books were really good.

Top 10 Characters Who Piss Me Off

Reading Time: 2 minutes Enjoy and please feel free to join me, I’d love to hear your own lists on whatever topics are featured. April 22: Top Ten Characters Who Piss Me Off I guess cause I like to think of characters as real people who I would want to be-friend. These guys did not make the Friendship Cut.   1. Off the Record – Liz Dougherty  I’ve never read about someone who complains so much about a mutual agreed uponcircumstance and who is too cautious or timid to change said circumstance. You have no valid reason to be such a whiner Liz. 2. Wake For Me – Sam Yes, this was an ARC but regardless Sam is spineless, lacking in man parts despite his killer body and fails to believe in his partner. Shame on him.  3. Checkmate (Neighbor Form Hell) Rory AND Connor I was so mad at these two and their childishness (which was no longer entertaining after a while) I wanted to reach through the pages and BANG their heads together. I settled for DNF instead. I am not proud of it but I could not continue. 4. Take This Regret – Elizabeth Ayers  Here is a heroine who is irrational and emotional to point of utter and

My kids will have only the best children’s books that I grew up reading. 😀 2. This Sweater The Perks Of Being a Weasley have these awesome sweaters.   3. Bookmark Collection I had this really cool velvet like bookmark that I used when reading Harry Potter. Top 10 Most Unique Books I’ve Read

Reading Time: 2 minutes Enjoy and please feel free to join me, I’d love to hear your own lists on whatever topics are featured.  April 8: Top Ten Most Unique Books I’ve Read (maybe the MC was really different, maybe it was the way it was written, a very unique spin on a genre or topic, etc.)  1. Neighbor’s from Hell Series by R.L. Mathewson  This book just brought out the worst in me, yet I could still laugh at the antics. Plus the weird obsession the MCs have with food is not something I’ve ever read before. 2. On Dublin Street Series by Samantha Young These books take place in Scotland. Maybe it because it takes place in Scotland is why everything about the story-line and the characters seem so unique to me. 3. Addicted to You by Krista & Becca Ritchie This series, this book in particular hooked me because it showed me a more realistic side to sex addiction than my imaginings led me to believe.  4. Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover A deaf musician, mostly I’ve read books with people dying of cancer or something equally fatal, or something too happy. I’ve never read anything that focused on what others in this world live with; impairments are real and having

Top 10 All Time Favorite Books in Fantasy Genre

Reading Time: 2 minutes Top Ten All-Time Favorite Books in Fantasy (Series) Genre  Phillip Pullman His Dark Materials I remember when I read them at the time, I thought it was the most genius thing written. My mind was blown Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance Series. Although I have yet to read the last installment, these were great when I was in my obsessive phase. I just need to find my way back there so I can finish the series. :/ Tamora Pierce Song of the Lioness or the Alanna series as I like to call them. These were awesome. My first venture into a different kind of fantasy. Good times. Melissa Marr The Wicked Lovely Series s I loved these books so much I joined a forum, my first forum ever and where I met a lot of my Goodreads and blogger friends.  #darkling #darkcourt Maggie Stiefvater The Wolves of Mercy Falls This wolf to human and human to wolf story was so different from anything I’ve ever read. It made the fantasy seem not so far-fetched. It was attainable in its logic and for that it will always be a favorite. Libba Bray  The Great and Terrible Beauty Man, I loved this series when I first read them in HS. I proceeded to shove it off
