The First Installment of the Forever and Ever Series. Cayson is in love with Skye Preston, his best friend for over twenty years. They grew up together, bathed together, and spent every holiday together. Hoarding the secret hasn’t been easy. Every time Cayson sees her with a boyfriend, he wants to smash his fist into a wall. But he could never tell her the truth. The close friendship they have is too good to be ruined. If he confessed his deepest feelings, how would it change what they have? Would he lose her altogether? But everything changes when Cayson finds Skye at a party, drunk and incoherent. Unable to stand on her own two feet with breath reeking of alcohol, she’s easy prey to the men staring at her noticeable chest. Cayson immediately scoops her into his arms and takes her home. But when they arrive at the house, Skye doesn’t want to sleep. Instead, she wants Cayson in a way she’s never had before. What will this mean for their relationship? Is it the start of something Cayson has always dreamed of? Or will it be the end?

Thoughts: What this book doesn’t tell you is, that it is highly beneficial to read the 20 book series Forever and Always before this. Why? Because the MC’s of this is book are the MC’s offspring of that entire series, so all the vague references not to mention keeping mental track of who’s related to who and which pair belongs to what parent is very confusing without the back story the previous book provides. Also, the actions/ protectiveness of the fathers would make better sense if we knew what happened to their wives before marrying the, otherwise their irrational behavior seems creepy and above and beyond protective father duty. There are only so many times someone multiple people can tell you that “A” is in love with you. If you’re boyfriend, a completely unrelated party tells you this is so and you still answer with denial, something is very wrong with you. For someone you claim to “know” you really don’t know them all that well. This is made worse by the fact that aren’t even trying to hide their feelings, you’re just obtuse and oh what I wouldn’t give to smack you upside the head. Then when she finally comes to realize her feelings for him she won’t listen to what everyone is telling her, again! Trinity growled. “I’m about to smack some sense into your thick skull, Skye. This is stupid. He loves you and you love him. There’s absolutely no reason for you two not to be together.” dumb dragon. This book was frustrating and not in a good way. There’s only so much of the same thing you can read page after page chapter after chapter. The heart to hearts between the MC and their parent’s felt forced and formal and that’s saying something considering how tight-knit their family is supposed to be. This is the end of the road for me, I’m not interested in going through this again with Slade and Trinity, nor do I want to re-read the same story but this time starting from the beginning with Skye and Roland’s parents in the first Forever and Always series.
