January 24, 2017: Top Five Picture Books
Looking at my list of Top Five picture books from 2017, I’ve realized that they are all excessively White. I will have to update this post in the future to include the diversity of picture books on the market.
For now, here is my list of five of my favourite White picture books.
The Wonderful Pigs of Jillian Jiggs
Puppets! I tried to make them because, you know, there’s a how-to at the back of the book!

The Paper Bag Princess
The illustrations of Robert Munsch’s books are great! Kind of bubbly sometimes, kind of scratchy, just simple and memorable.

Paul Bunyan
A giant man with a giant blue ox and giant food! The pancakes were my favourite.

James and the Giant Peach
A boy, a worm, a grasshopper, a centipede, a ladybug, a lightning bug, and a spider floating around the world in peach and landing in NY.

The Adventures of Captain Underpants
People! This one came from my niece, who informed me that Captain Underpants is a grown man and not just any grown man but a principle! WHAAATTTT???!! Did everyone but me know this?

January 31, 2017 at 22:32Hi! I did the same topic this week 🙂 Paul Bunyan always makes me laugh. I’m not sure why…it’s not a comedy. 🙂
