Books We’ve Added to Our TBR and Have Forgotten Why

Top Ten Tuesday was an original feature/weekly meme now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Every week we will post our Top Ten of the selected theme.

We had a fun time going through our TBR list over the past year for this week’s topic. We enjoyed this reminder of the books we had on our list.

Sashoy’s List

My TBR list is not small, I have books from years ago that I haven’t read. Thankfully we are only focusing on books from the last year. I don’t remember why these are on my list, but I can certainly guess at some of them.

  1. The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez
Looks like Carmen recommended this to me but I have yet to read it, sssh don’t tell her
  2. Black Skin, White Masks by Frantz Fanon
This was recommended reading from my Caribbean Literature (Lit) class. I highly recommend that you check it out, especially in light of everything that is going on.
  3. Drown by Juno Diaz
Another recommended read from my Caribbean Lit. We read The Brief and Wonderful Life of Oscar Wao. I had a great time unpacking the different elements in Oscar Wao so I’m interested to see what this one is all about.
  4. Real World by Amy Jo Cousins
I stumbled upon Amy Jo Cousins Bend it or Break series by happy accident. It was one of the first male-male (m/m) romance and Real World is the fifth book. I’m pretty sure I just skipped the books in between which is probably why I didn’t remember that this was on my list.
  5. A Brief History of Seven Killings by James Marlon
  6. Never Split the Difference by Chris Voss
  7. The Travels of A T-Shirt in the Global Economy: An Economist Examines the Markets, Power, and Politics of World Trade by Pietra Rivoli
  8. Educated by Tara Westover
  9. Geography Club by Brent Hartinger
  10. Double Full by Alexander Kindle

I really enjoyed going through my TBR list, I’m pleasantly surprised to see that I have an eclectic mix of books that have been on my TBR list since 2019. I’m pretty excited to read them and share my thoughts with everyone.

Carmen’s List

My TBR list is HUGE, over a thousand entries long.

That being said I can still recognize a lot of the books and why they’re on the list to begin with. These are the books I didn’t immediately recognize by title.

  1. Empty Mansions by Bill Dedman & Paul Clark Newel
  2. The Cactus by Sarah Haywood
  3. Windhaven by George R. Martin & Lisa Tuttle
  4. Judas by Astrid Holleeder
  5. Flaneuse by Lauren Elkin
  6. The Address by Fiona Davis
  7. Sadie by Courtney Summers
  8. Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye
  9. In Intimate Detail by Cora Harrington
  10. Child of the Prophecy by Juliet Marillier

Confronting my TBR list has shown me just how little progress I’ve made or that people keep coming out with books that I just have to read. Either way I’ve once again found ten books that I ca’t wait to read and review for you.

What are some of the books on your TBR that you don’t remember or can’t explain?
